An audio-visual performance with real-time generative art
project overview
After a few audio-reactive music videos I made for Reset Network, they reached out to me to conceptualize a unique visual journey for a live A/V shoot. The ambient music set was being performed by Japanese artist Masaaki. To complement his musical style I created a series of real-time visuals in TouchDesigner.
The visual set was a mix of 3D and 2D scenes which I controlled live. The visuals were also audio-reactive to Masaaki’s live feed. Using a MIDI controller to tweak parameters, camera positions, lighting and some post processing, I was in a playground where I could improvise all I wanted to visually represent the music.
The theme was ethereal and dreamlike. The journey explored underwater landscapes and creatures, astral bodies and urban clouds. I chose to work with blue tints and monochromatic transitions, making the visual experience seamless.
